Khan Task #2

Task number two for Di Trieste - Khan is off to go collect more bedding , blankets, cushions etc.

It had seemed like an easy enough task – go get soft things to lay on for the pack. Khan couldn't blame them, not every dog in Di Trieste had a thick coat to insulate them against the bare concrete floors that got quite chilly in winter, and even the areas that still had carpet weren't that soft or comfortable anymore. However things had not gone quite as he expected when he asked several of the other canon fodder where the shearing barns were in the city, so that he may retrieve a sack of sheep wool. Several had stared silently at him, the rest had burst out into laughter. Would yak fur be preferable? He had asked next, although he wasn't sure there were any yak in the area, he sure hadn't smelled any. This had only elicited further laughter, and most of the dogs had left him, sitting in confusion at that point.
Little Reina had been the one who remained, and enlightened Khan to the concept that 'soft things' in the city meant pillows, blankets, cushions and the like. She had agreed to go with Khan on his journey across the city looking for such things. Maybe she couldn't carry much, but with her guidance, surely they would find whatever they were after, right?
Their journeys led the to a junkyard, one which smelled of dog that had been there recently, but they could not locate the male. No real matter, it just meant Khan didn't have to bargain or beat another dog off for them to look around.
Reina had been the one to find it -a 'mattress' she called it. Khan wasn't sure about the idea, but she had insisted this was the perfect thing to bring back to the hotel. Well, if she thought it was the right thing. He latched massive jaws around one end and pulled the rectangular shape from the pile, as the little crested ran around and jumped up on the mattress. Oh yes, she had insisted, this would be perfect. And she had curled right up on it while he was dragging in down the empty road to lay down.
“Aren't you going to help?” he asked through teeth muffled with mattress after several hundred more feet.
Delicately feathered ears perked up, “Oh yes, I suppose you can't see well behind you pulling like this. Go right. No, my right, not yours.”
The tibetan mastiff sighed, this was going to be a very long trek back to the hotel.

Reina is the Chinese Crested making an appearance in this pic, she belongs to ~dragonmissy and is perhaps one of the smallest dogs in Di Trieste - a nice contrast to Khan, one of the heaviest.
